Intro

What I love about Cyprus Airways is how they’ve managed to maintain a personal touch.

Flying CY 310 from Larnaca to Athens last month, I experienced something that reminded me why smaller carriers can be fun to fly with.

During boarding, when I asked the crew if I could snap a few photos of the business class service, cabin manager George went to the captain and got permission for me to spend five minutes in the front cabin taking photos after takeoff.

Some airlines can be strict about taking pictures and videos onboard today, I was grateful that they arranged this for me on the spur of the moment.

Economy Class

Economy class passengers can pre-order or purchase items from the Breeze Menu onboard. Tea and coffee flow freely throughout the flight.

The interior of an airplane cabin shows rows of empty seats with a few passengers seated near the back.

The range includes five different pizzas at โ‚ฌ8 each, plus wraps and sandwiches priced from โ‚ฌ8 to โ‚ฌ9.

Open magazine on an airplane tray table, showing an ad for a medical clinic on the left page and the Breeze menu with a drink image on the right page.

Looking at their buy-on-board menu, you’ve got everything from Pringles to proper Johnnie Walker whisky, with prices that won’t shock.

Every pre-order comes with your choice of complimentary drink, making the pricing even more reasonable.

I’d booked their Mediterranean Salad during the online booking process, and it was pretty good.

Arriving in a substantial bamboo-effect bowl with “Freshly Made” branding displayed.

It included a mix of salad topped with chunks of proper white feta, Kalamata olives, cucumber rounds, cherry tomatoes, and colourful peppers.

What struck me was the freshness – the clever packaging allowed you to add as much as you wanted of the olives, dressing, and other components..

The portion was generous enough that I felt satisfied, not like I’d been served a side salad for โ‚ฌ10.

The service concept works well here. On this 90-minute hop, you don’t need an elaborate meal service, but having substantial pre-order options available makes sense.

Business Class

The experience starts with hot towels, followed by printed menus that celebrate the airline’s heritage with stories about Nicosia’s historic coat of arms.

A flight attendant serves a hot towel on a small plate placed on a tray inside an airplane cabin.

They care about presentation, passengers had two hot meal choices, including mini pancakes or cheese omelettes.

Meals were served on fine china, accompanied by fresh fruit salads featuring perfectly ripe melon, kiwi, and blueberries, garnished with fresh mint.

The bread service came in wicker baskets, accompanied by warm croissants and rolls.

A person holds a basket with croissants and bread rolls lined with napkins, while two people stand nearby.

George and his team take pride in their work.

You could see it in how they interacted with passengers, the care taken with the presentation, and their willingness to go above and beyond.

Their business class menu even explains how the design pays tribute to Nicosia’s 16th-century fortified walls, which shows they’re thinking beyond just filling passengers up.

Even the branded pillows and blankets throughout the cabin show they’ve thought about every detail of the passenger experience.

Conclusion

If you’re flying with Cyprus Airways, explore their pre-order options. The Mediterranean Salad is a solid choice if you want something fresh and genuinely tasty, while their comprehensive buy-on-board menu covers all bases.

Thanks to George and the CY 310 crew for their genuine hospitality and service – this is what smaller carriers can do well when they maintain personal service and attention to local touches.
