How to order a special meal on British Airways

The airline offers 15 special meals that can be ordered if travelling in economy class on most intercontinental routes.

However, on short and medium routes across Europe, special meals aren’t on the menu in economy class. Instead, you can purchase and pre order a range of items from the airlines buy on board program, more about that here.

If you’re flying in business class, it’s possible to order a special meal on most flights.

Ensure you place your order at least 24 hours before your flight; except for Kosher meals, please request these at least 48 hours before departure.

Special Meal Types

British Airways offers the following special meals:

  • Lacto-ovo-vegetarian
  • Vegan vegetarian
  • Asian vegetarian
  • Hindu
  • Halal
  • Jain
  • Kosher
  • Child meal
  • Baby meal
  • Diabetic
  • Gluten intolerant
  • Low calorie
  • Low fat
  • Low salt
  • Low lactose

Note: Not every special meal is available on all flights, so your preferred option might not always be on the menu.

How to order

1. Head to

2. Tap on Manage and then enter your Booking Reference/Last Name and tap on Find my Booking.

3. Once your flight details are displayed scroll and look forthe Request a Special Meal section.

4. On the Special Meals page select the meal that you require and tap on Save meal requests.
