Review: Croatia Airlines Business Class

Flying Croatia airlines within Europe offers an impressive inflight meal.

I flew with Croatia Airlines from Frankfurt to Zagreb to catch a connecting flight to New York with Air Serbia. Instead of just staying in transit in Zagreb, I decided that I would take the first flight out from Frankfurt and spend the day in Zagreb before heading off. If you have the chance to check out Zagreb I highly recommend it, it’s a beautiful city, and my only wish was that I had more time to check it out.Croatia Airlines launched a new business class meal program in November 2016 called ‘Inspired by Croatia’, passengers can expect locally sourced, quality traditional food such as purica mlincima, pašticada, viška pogača or splitska torta. The airline teamed up with Split-based Uje Oil bar, where chef Dino Galvagno created a range of dishes exclusively for business class. While my flight was too short (and too early in the day) to experience his creations, I was pleasantly surprised at the meal offering on such a short trip.

ON THE GROUND

Before take-off, the cabin crew pass through the cabin to offer pre-departure drinks. This flight was just one-hour, so I wasn’t expecting much, usually, on such short flights, you won’t get a hot meal as there isn’t much time for the crew to prepare them.

INFLIGHT

After take-off, the meal service commenced. A continental breakfast of fresh fruit, cereal, yoghurt and a platter of cheese, tuna, cherry tomatoes, lemon and olive was served. The Dalmatian Coast inspired breakfast was fresh, light, and a decent amount of food for such a short flight. Bakery items were served warm, and the platter of tuna/cheese was very delicious.

Not only was the offering impressive for such a short flight, but the service was also excellent. The cabin crew were present in the cabin ensuring that everyone was happy, had refills and extra bakery items. They were courteous, extremely professional and pleasant.
