INTRO
During my recent journey from Hong Kong to Melbourne in economy class, I was pleasantly surprised by the overall experience provided by Royal Brunei Airlines.
As a dry airline, they do not serve alcohol onboard, but they do offer Halal meals for passengers in economy class.
In fact, travelers can even pre-order from a selection of 17 special meals up to 24 hours before their flight.
The cabin crew were incredibly polite and helpful, which added to the enjoyment of the flight.
What impressed me even more was the cleanliness of the bathrooms, especially considering it was an economy class flight where cleanliness can sometimes be lacking.
HONG KONG TO BRUNEI
The flight from Hong Kong to Brunei lasted approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes, and I was pleased to have access to inflight entertainment during this time.
The cabin itself was clean and comfortable, and just 20 minutes after takeoff, we were offered a choice between two meal options: chicken or beef rendang.
Beef rendang is a regional specialty that originates from Sumatra in Indonesia but is also commonly enjoyed in Malaysia and Brunei.
I decided to try the beef rendang option which had a delightful hint of spiciness.
The meal was accompanied by various drink options such as juices, water, and soft drinks.
To add to the pleasant surprise, dessert was included as well – a pre-made item that provided a nice touch compared to the typical pre-packaged ice cream offered by other airlines.
What struck me as particularly noteworthy were the bathrooms onboard.
They were impeccably clean with Glade air fresheners – something I had never encountered on an airplane before.
BRUNEI TO MELBOURNE
On my subsequent flight from Brunei to Melbourne, which lasted around 6 hours and 45 minutes, I had an exit row seat with ample legroom (although no window).
The service began shortly after takeoff and, 35 minutes later, the crew reached me with a choice between beef and chicken for the main meal.
I opted for the beef option, which was served along with a pasta salad and a delicious red velvet cake.
During this leg of my journey from Brunei to Melbourne, no additional services were offered.
However, the crew frequently came around offering juice, coke, and water – something that was lacking in my recent flights with Cathay Pacific.
In addition to these beverages, snacks such as hot noodles, nuts, and biscuits were available in the galley.
CONCLUSION
My journey with Royal Brunei Airlines surpassed my expectations in every aspect.
From the delicious Halal meals to the impeccable cleanliness of the bathrooms and the exceptional service provided by the cabin crew, every detail contributed to a memorable experience.
As someone who frequently travels in economy class, I was pleasantly surprised by the level of comfort and attention to detail offered by Royal Brunei Airlines.
I would not hesitate to choose them again for my future travels.
