Introduction

Scoot, Singapore Airlines’ budget-friendly arm, offers two cabin classes: Economy and Premium Economy.

While Economy passengers must pay extra for meals and luggage, Premium Economy includes these perks as part of the fare.

On my flight from Bangkok to Singapore, I booked Scoot’s Premium Economy to experience the added comfort and inclusions firsthand.

The Scoot Premium Experience includes:

Spacious premium leather seats
Cabin baggage
Check-in baggage
Complimentary meal
Priority check-in and boarding
30MB of Wi-Fi (where available)
Charging outlet

Inflight Cabin

Scoot’s Boeing 787 cabin has remained unchanged since the airline’s launch in 2012.

While the wide leather seats in Premium Economy were comfortable, with decent recline and ample legroom, the cabin is starting to show some wear and tear.

Inflight Menu

Having last flown with Scoot in 2018, I noticed a marked improvement in their inflight meal offerings.

The airline has also shifted toward more sustainable cutlery, which is a nice touch.

For longer flights from Europe to Singapore, Scoot offers pre-order meal deals priced around AUD 22.70, which typically a main, snack and drink.

Passengers without pre-orders can still buy snacks, light meals, and hot dishes from the Scoot Cafรฉ menu onboard.

Bangkok to Singapore

On my short-haul flight from Bangkok, service began before takeoff with a small cup of water for Premium Economy passengers.

For those who hadn’t pre-ordered, the crew moved through the cabin before takeoff to confirm meal choices.

Unlike traditional trolleys, drinks were delivered by hand, adding a personal touch.

The meal service began from the back of Premium Economy, and within 17 minutes, all passengers had received their food.

Each tray included:
A hot main course
A dessert
Sustainable cutlery
A 30MB Wi-Fi voucher

While the meal presentation was simple for a Premium Economy product, it’s important to remember that Scoot is a low-cost airline, not Singapore Airlines.

For my main course, I selected the Oriental Treasure Rice, which featured chicken, chestnut, oriental sausage, and mushrooms.

Surprisingly, it was delicious, flavourful, and well-seasonedโ€”a decent dish for airline food.

Despite the short flight, the crew worked efficiently and attentively, providing passengers with genuine warm service.

Conclusion

Scoot’s Premium Economy provides a comfortable, efficient, well-priced experience for a low-cost airline.

The wide leather seats offer extra space and comfort compared to regular Economy.

Meals have improved since my last flight and sustainable cutlery is a nice touch.

The crew was friendly and attentive, ensuring a smooth and pleasant journey.

That said, the cabin is starting to show signs of wear, and the meal serviceโ€”while promisingโ€”lacks some of the extras you might expect in Premium Economy (such as a more extensive selection of beverages or appetizers).

While not a luxury airline experience, Scoot Premium Economy is an excellent upgrade for budget-conscious travellers looking for more comfort, priority boarding, and an included meal.

For the price, it’s one of the best-value Premium Economy options among low-cost carriers.
