I was excited to fly on another Japanese airline, this time it was Vanilla Air a low-cost airline based at Tokyo Narita Airport and a subsidiary of All Nippon Airways. Sadly the airline ceased operating in October 2019 after it merged with Peach Air.I flew with Vanilla as part of my trip to Hawaii with Hawaiian Airlines, rather than flying from Europe to the USA and onto Hawaii I flew from Europe to Asia and then onto Hawaii.This review is from a flight operated between Taipei and Tokyo.

INFLIGHT MEALS
There was so much choice, and it was difficult to choose, everything looked great. I opted for the Loco Moco Style Rice Bowl and the Bento box. The meals offer great value for money, the bento box was EUR7.50, and the hot meal was only EUR5.50. This is excellent value when compared to similar airlines in Europe, Asia and Australia.
The bento was beautifully presented, with an array of items to eat, I had no idea what I was eating, but it was delicious.
After the bento, I decided to sample the Loco Moco rice bowl which was a dish of meatballs with fried rice and egg. The meat was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed this hot menu item.
Although the airline is no longer operating, you can still find some amazing inflight dishes on Japanese based airlines. Japanese airlines offer high-quality inflight food products, whether complimentary or for sale.
