On a recent Air China Economy trip just before Chinese New Year, the trays were a good mix of East and West. One meal was braised meat with rice and bok choy, served with a ham and pasta salad, a bread roll and a chocolate mousse cake, while the Western option came in a tomato sauce with mashed potato and vegetables. Breakfast was scrambled eggs with sausage and potatoes, a croissant, fresh melon and a drinking yoghurt, and a shorter flight brought a snack set of roasted chestnuts, crackers, a packaged bun and yoghurt.
