Intro

TAP Air Portugal serves free meals with every fare on long-haul flights to the Americas and Africa. On most flights within Europe and to North Africa, though, Economy passengers buy food and drinks from an onboard menu, with sandwiches from €8 and coffee from €3, paid by card only, in euros. Water is free on request. On long-haul flights, Business and Economy Prime passengers can pre-select their hot main dish online, and special meals are free to order up to 24 hours before departure.

What To Expect

Meals By Route

TAP’s Local Stars project brings menus from six Portuguese chefs to Business Class on long-haul flights departing Lisbon until 10pm, with each chef serving two menus over four months. Until the end of November, the chef is Rita Magro of Atrevo in Porto, who won the Michelin Guide’s 2024 Young Chef Award. Her October and November menu is roasted seabass with green apple sauce and pickled fennel, then beef terrine with potato and celery gratin, and a dried fruit cake with white chocolate cream and drunken pear. Business passengers on TAP’s A330s are also welcomed with a glass of Churchill’s Fine White Port.

Buy On Board Menu

On the buy on board menu, TAP takes Visa, Mastercard, American Express, contactless, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay, but not cash. Payment is in euros only, with a limit of €100 per transaction. Canned drinks carry an extra €0.10 deposit under Portugal’s return scheme, and some sandwiches aren’t sold on flights to or from Madeira, the Azores, Spain, North Africa and regional France. If your long-haul trip includes a connection within Europe or North Africa, that shorter flight uses the buy on board menu. TAP’s wine list is entirely Portuguese and changes every quarter. For a celebration, you can order a 500g birthday or wedding cake for €45 and a bottle of Portuguese sparkling wine for €25 through TAP’s Contact Center at least 7 days before departure, except on mainland Portugal routes.

Special Meals

Special meals are free, including baby and child meals, and are available in Business on flights over 1 hour, in Economy Prime on long-haul, and in Economy on flights over 5 hours. Order them in Manage your Booking at least 24 hours before departure, or 7 days ahead for food intolerance meals. You can also order through the TAP Contact Center, at a TAP airport counter or through a travel agent. On early return flights to Lisbon or Porto departing between 5am and 8am, and on flights with stopovers, only kosher meals are available. Flights from Accra and São Tomé and Príncipe only offer vegetarian, vegan, baby, child and gluten-free meals, and special meals are only served on flights operated by TAP or TAP Express.
