Intro

Before flying with Aeromexico, I read several negative reviews online, leaving me unsure of what to expect.

However, I was eager to experience a new airline. My itinerary included flights from Amsterdam to Mexico City, onward to Panama, and back to Amsterdam.

Gate Gourmet Amsterdam

Before embarking on my trip, I visited Gate Gourmet in Amsterdam to meet key staff and take a closer look at the business-class meals served inflight.

Business class passengers are typically offered three main course choices: fish, chicken, or pasta.

Economy passengers usually have two options: chicken or pasta.

Amsterdam to Mexico City

For dinner on my economy class flight, I chose the Chicken Tikka Masala. It was flavuorful and served alongside a fresh salad and a fruit platter.

It was refreshing to see a proper wine glass offered in economy classโ€”a thoughtful touch.

A few hours before landing, breakfast was served. The meal included scrambled eggs, a hash brown, tomato, yogurt, fresh fruit, and a croissant.

The food was simple but satisfying, keeping hunger at bay during the flight.

The Lounge

While in transit at Mexico City Airport, I visited Aeromexicoโ€™s lounge.

At 5 a.m., it was pretty quiet but quickly filled up as the morning progressed. Initially, the food offerings were minimal, but the staff replenished and added new items over time.

Mexico To Panama

I decided to upgrade to business class for this 3.5-hour flight. The extra legroom was a welcome bonus, and the meal offered a choice between a continental and a hot breakfast.

I chose the hot meal, which featured an omelette with spinach, black beans, fresh fruit, and a croissant.

While the omelette was slightly bland, the other items were decent. Overall, the meal felt basic for a business-class breakfast.

Panama to Amsterdam

The return leg included two economy-class flights.

On the Panama to Mexico City segment, I selected the pasta dish, which was average but edible.

The crew provided a second round of drinks, which was appreciated.

The long-haul flight from Mexico City to Amsterdam featured two meal services.

I skipped the second meal service. While the meals were not extraordinary, they were adequate and included fresh salads or fruit.

Conclusion

My overall experience with Aeromexico was decent.

The inflight service was average, likely due to a mix of language barriers and crew enthusiasm.

While the airline isnโ€™t exceptional, it offers reasonable value, and including fresh fruit and salads is a plus in economy class.
