Review: British Airways Business Class

Find out about the British Airways club Europe inflight meals, service and what to expect inflight on BA.

I decided to upgrade my flight with British Airways after receiving an email offer from them for a flight to London recently. The Club Europe offer was a reasonable fee of £59.00 for a gourmet inflight dining experience, free-flowing champagne, lounge access, priority boarding and other benefits.

ON THE GROUND

Before departure, there are no pre-departure drinks offered.

INFLIGHT

The meal offered was an afternoon tea service featuring a three-finger sandwich served with Rodda’s clotted cream, Wilkin and Sons strawberry jam and a pistachio Madeira cake. The meal concept was traditionally British and the Madeira cake was my favourite item. The afternoon tea service on BA is a nice touch, but on my flight, it was rushed and poorly executed by the cabin crew.

The scones were served lukewarm/cold from a basket that passengers just helped themselves to with their own hands. While I loved the little extras like the lounge access offered as part of the upgrade, I found the onboard meal experience a little disappointing. I thought it could have been delivered better, and small additional touches would make it feel more premium.
