Review: Air Tahiti Nui Economy Class

This 11-hour journey from LA to Paris turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

I had arrived in Los Angeles from Hawaii after experiencing the fantastic Hawaiian Airlines inflight service. I needed to fly from LA to Paris, and Air Tahiti had an excellent fare in economy class. My economy class flight from LA to Paris would be 11 hours, I didn’t know what to expect flying the airline, but what I had read online seemed positive.

INFLIGHT

After take-off, the cabin crew commenced a drink and snack service.

Shortly after the meal service began, there were two hot meal choices a pan-fried salmon with caper sauce served with semolina and vegetables, or oriental chicken served with basmati rice. I opted for the salmon which came with a mixed salad with shrimps and raspberry cheesecake for dessert.

The meal was neatly presented, with touches of branding on the dessert and coffee cup. The portion size of the salmon was generous, the side salad also had a generous serving of shrimps. It’s not often you see this in economy class and kudos to the airline for doing so.

Two hours before landing it was breakfast time, which consisted of a cheese and ham omelette with chicken sausage and potato croquettes. It was adequate, nothing outstanding but certainly not horrid.I had a good experience with the airline; my only issue was with the cabin crew who were quite abrupt, not helpful or friendly. Perhaps they were tired from their current trip, or something else what was at play, whatever the issue it was quite a below-average customer service experience.
