I’ve flown Alitalia many times, mainly in economy class on quick hops across Europe, the food offerings are basic and not worth writing about. However, business class is quite the treat. I’ve heard great things about the meals in Alitalia business class, and their pasta dishes are spoken of highly by passengers.
FRANKFURT TO ROME
There were no pre-departure drinks, menus, or wine lists on this flight. After takeoff, and without a word from the purser, he delivered my meal and asked ”Drinks”? I requested a white wine; he didn’t offer a choice and provided me with a glass of wine a few minutes later.
The ricotta-filled ravioli in tomato sauce served with a side salad, and a delicious tiramisu was unexpected on such a short flight time. The meal tray is something that you would receive on a medium or long haul flight, and when compared to what the competition offers, this is miles ahead.Their competitor Lufthansa serve this tasting plate, a slightly smaller tray and no hot meal offered. Granted, the service on Lufthansa was a lot better than Alitalia, and there was nothing wrong with my meal on Lufthansa. But, when comparing the two meal options, the Italians win.https://www.instagram.com/p/BSy7jsAAXfs/?utm_source=ig_embed
The food experience with Alitalia was impressive, a typically Italian product that exceeded my expectations. The only downfall was the purser he did what he had to do, and that was it — nothing more, nothing less. He couldn’t smile, let alone engage with the passengers.
