Review: Fly Niki Austria Economy Class

Our flyniki meal review of a range of pre order meals that are available to pre order before your flight. Inflight Feed the airline meal review site.

FlyNiki, a subsidiary of Air Berlin, commenced operations back in 2003 when Niki Lauda acquired Aero Lloyd, unfortunately, Niki ceased operations in 2017.

VIENNA TO ROME

On my flight from Vienna to Rome, I pre-ordered two meals each costing €14.00. Before takeoff, a member of the cabin crew team re-confirmed my pre-order meal choices and advised that the meals will be served soon after takeoff.

First I received the Viennese chicken schnitzel with parsley potatoes, a fresh salad with balsamic, olive oil and a mousse au chocolate. The presentation was excellent, and the small detail of the lemon impressed me. The chicken schnitzel was piping hot, crumbed to perfection, and the breast was moist and tender. The chocolate mousse was smooth, creamy and not too sweet.A similar chicken schnitzel product also features on Austrian Airlines and Pegasus Airlines.

I then received the Italian antipasti platter consisting of Prosciutto di Parma with tomato-mozzarella, grilled Mediterranean vegetables, salad and tiramisu. The platter was fresh and delectable, as though the cabin crew had just prepared it in the galley, and the tiramisu was mouthwatering.

The airline still offers free snacks and meals in economy class, and everyone on this particular flight received a fresh, high-quality sandwich.
