INTRODUCTION
EVA Air is known for its exceptional service and unique offerings, such as the Hello Kitty Jet.
On my recent business class trip from Bangkok to Taipei and onward to Jakarta, I had the chance to experience their renowned dining service.
The EVA Air lounge in Bangkok Airport is my favorite Star Alliance lounge there.
The food, prepared by Thai Airways catering, offers a variety of choices, and it’s always been a tranquil oasis during my visits.
ON THE GROUND
My flight from Bangkok to Taipei was scheduled for just over 3 hours, with a departure time of 2 am.
Given the late hour, I expected a simple supper service.
However, I was pleasantly surprised by the extensive service onboard.
As soon as I settled into my seat, a crew member promptly noticed my jacket and offered to hang it up.
Shortly after, Jamie, the attentive crew member assigned to my section, offered me a choice of juice, water, or sparkling wine.
Along with the drink, a pre-plated hot towel was provided—a nice touch.
Just moments later, I received the inflight menu, and the crew took my meal and drink order while still on the ground.
INFLIGHT
About 10 minutes after takeoff, the purser introduced herself and thanked me for flying with EVA Air.
We had a pleasant chat about the short hop to Taipei and my travel plans.
Then, Jamie elegantly dressed my tray table with a linen cloth and delivered my drinks along with some nuts and water.
The inflight menu featured an enticing selection, including one entree and a choice of beef, chicken, or fish for the main course, plus a variety of dessert options.
Here’s a look at the menu and the wine and drinks list.
My entree arrived shortly after the drinks, followed by a bread basket with an assortment of bakery items. I opted for the garlic bread.
The entree was beautifully presented, with a slice of lemon adding a zesty touch. The quirky salt and pepper shakers added a bit of fun to the meal.
For the main course, I chose the stir-fried beef with XO sauce. While the rice and vegetables were enjoyable, the beef and XO sauce didn’t quite meet my expectations.
This delightful dessert from EVA Air’s business class dining experience is a visual and gastronomic treat.
The presentation is nothing short of artful, with a beautiful rose-shaped mango delicately placed on a banana leaf, symbolizing a tropical bloom.
The dessert is as pleasing to the eye as it is to the palate.
The rose-shaped mango, paired with fresh slices of apple and dragon fruit, offers a refreshing and flavorful experience.
The nut-studded cheese or nougat adds a rich, creamy element.
This dessert showcases the high standards and thoughtful touches of EVA Air’s business class service.
TAIPEI LOUNGE
Upon arrival in Taipei, I had the opportunity to check out EVA Air’s lounge at their home base.
The lounge was quite busy, so I quickly took a shower and snapped some photos of the food offerings.
Unfortunately, I found the breakfast options to be slightly underwhelming, reminiscent more of a school cafeteria than a premium airline lounge.
TAIPEI TO JAKARTA
My next flight, from Taipei to Jakarta, departed at 9 am with a flight time of just under 5 hours.
On the ground, I was offered a hot towel and a freshly pressed juice as part of the welcome drink.
I received the inflight menu, and my meal order was once again taken before takeoff.
After takeoff, I informed the crew that I wished to sleep and have my meal closer to landing.
The crew member graciously offered to set my meal aside for later. I appreciated this personalised service.
After a few hours of sleep, I woke up and the crew promptly prepared my meal. The salmon entree that followed was an excellent start to the meal.
The star of the meal was the honey chicken, which was delicious and authentic.
Dessert, a mousse vanilla cake, was a bit bland for my taste, but I still enjoyed it.
The service on this flight was just as fantastic as the previous one. The crew addressed me by name in every interaction, adding a personal touch to the experience.
CONCLUSION
Overall, I had a fantastic experience with EVA Air, which ranks among the best business class airlines in the world.
Having flown them in economy and premium economy, I can confidently say that their business class experience is exceptional.
The personalised service, attention to detail, and quality of the dining experience truly set them apart. Whether in economy, premium economy, or business class, EVA Air consistently delivers an exceptional experience.
